The Walpole Area Visiting Nurse Association (WAVNA) is an independent, non-profit, community-based home care agency, providing high quality home health care and resource information to people of all ages. WAVNA strives to respond to patient and community needs, to promote healthy lifestyles and facilitate independence enabling people to remain in their own homes, enhancing quality of life and reducing hospitalizations. We work with all of the major Boston hospitals and the local community hospital networks. We have the skills and technology to provide seamless transitions to home. Our exceptional service and positive outcomes are what have kept generations of families requesting our services for over one hundred years. If you are seeking care for yourself or a loved one, we can help.
About the VNA:
With $500.00 subscribed for the work, the Walpole Area VNA was started by the Walpole Women’s Club. The first nurse, Mrs. Emma Newcomb, traveled about on foot, bicycle, or on the trolley. One night in 1913, with no doctor available, she delivered three babies on her own. Since that humble beginning, the Walpole Area VNA has expanded significantly. In addition to nursing services, we provide a full range of services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, home health aides providing personal care, a dietician, and a social worker. We have maternal/child health nurses, and we provide lactation counseling and pediatric care as well. We also serve as the Public Health Nurses in several of the communities we serve.
Our mission is very simple: Compassionate, high quality health care in your home.
